A warm and friendly home in Ealing
Overview
This large, purpose-built and accessible house is in Perivale, in Ealing. It is set over two floors, has large communal areas and a garden.
The main living areas on the ground floor are made up of:
- a large well-furnished living room with TV, stereo and board games
- a dining room that seats 10 people
- a large kitchen
- laundry room
- two toilets, one of which is wheelchair accessible
Both the living and dining rooms give direct access to a well-maintained garden with a seating area that’s ideal for relaxing and socialising.
Four of the five bedrooms on the ground floor have overhead hoists and interconnecting, fully accessible bathrooms.
Access to the first floor is via a lift, which is large enough for one person in a wheelchair and one person to support them, or a wide staircase. The three rooms share two wet room style bathrooms.
Each bedroom has a sink and although we hope that people will bring their own furnishings to make their room their own, they are also fitted out with a bed, chest of drawers and either fitted cupboards or a wardrobe.
Living here
This home has a warm and sociable atmosphere where people have a wide range of interests and hobbies including listening to music, knitting, cooking, going to the cinema or theatre, shopping and going out for meals. People often like to relax with therapeutic massages and by using the foot spa.
Outside of current restrictions, some people attend the nearby Activity and Resource Centre where they spent time with friends and participate in a range of activities.
We have a talented cook who prepares a variety of meals that meet each person’s dietary needs. Family and friends visit regularly including people who live next door, who are also supported by Certitude.
People who live here mainly communicate non-verbally using Makaton and other visual cues.
Support offered
The support provided here is Registered Care for adults with high learning disability and/or autism support needs.
The team provides 24-hour support, (including waking night support shared with the house next door). All support is tailored around the individual, with the team adapting their skills and training to meet each person’s needs and goals.
