Certitude’s response to the government’s Fair Pay Agreement Consultation

  • News

We welcome the government’s proposal to introduce Fair Pay Agreements because fair pay for everyone in social care isn’t optional, it’s essential.

At Certitude, our colleagues are highly skilled professionals. Every day they bring expertise, compassion, and the skills needed to provide great, high-quality support.  Valuing this work is at the heart of our mission, to build an inclusive society where people with learning disabilities, autistic people, and people with mental health support needs can live the life they choose.

As a not-for-profit organisation, every penny we receive goes directly into supporting people, not shareholders. Fair pay goes straight to our colleagues, helping us keep great people, attract new talent, and invest in training and career progression. But it isn’t just about doing right by our workforce, it’s about protecting the high-quality and continuity of support that thousands rely on every day.

Making this happen takes partnership. Local councils are at the heart of adult social care, commissioning services and working closely with providers like us. For Fair Pay Agreements to succeed, councils need the resources to deliver them properly and that means central government must ensure the whole sector is funded fairly and sustainably.

Proper pay settlements make a real difference. They help us keep skilled colleagues, reduce turnover, and maintain stability in support. They also allow us to invest in development and progression, strengthening the workforce for the future.

Fair pay is achievable if we work together - government, councils, and providers - to make sure funding flows where it’s needed. That’s how we build a stronger, fairer future for the people who provide support and for those who rely on it.
