A six-bedroom house in Perivale

Overview

This six-bedroom house with ground floor accommodation is in Perivale, Ealing. It is made up is two interconnected properties each with their own entrance.

Each side of the house consists of:

  • a large well-furnished living room with a TV and stereo
  • a dining rooms that can seat six people
  • a large shared laundry room
  • a spacious kitchen

All bedrooms are on the ground floor. Each bedroom has a sink, a bed, chest of drawers and fitted cupboards or a wardrobe. The available room is accessible by a small wheelchair but doesn’t have an overhead hoist.

There is also a large shared garden, shared by both houses. The garden includes a sensory planting area designed so people can touch and smell the plants to maximise sensory stimulation.

There is parking for visitors.

Living here

This house is a warm, spacious and welcoming home where people have a wide range of interests and hobbies. These include listening to music, cooking, going to the cinema or theatre, shopping and going out for meals. People enjoy going out as a group, including to the theatre, the pub and have had trips to the seaside. Family and friends visit regularly.

High staff numbers mean that people living here have the support to go out a lot and pursue their own interests.

People attend the nearby Activity and Resource Centre where they spend time with friends.

People who live here mainly communicate non–verbally using visual cues.

Support Offered

The support provided here is registered care for adults with high learning disability and/or autism support needs.

The team provides 24-hour support, including waking night support. All support is tailored around the individual, with the team adapting their skills and training to meet each person’s needs and goals.

Local Area

The house is in Perivale, Ealing and has great transport links, including buses, the Central line and over ground trains within walking distance.

There are shops on the nearby Ruislip Road East and the house is near Perivale Athletics Park which has a café and sports facilities. The nearby leisure centre has a gym, swimming pool and other indoor facilities.

Jenny Plummer manages the large team of experienced and trained staff.

Each team member brings with them unique knowledge and skills in supporting people with learning disabilities and autism. Each person has a keyworker who ensures that health appointments are made and kept and everyone has a named and trusted member of staff who works directly with them to achieve their goals.
