What is a Shared Lives Panel?

Our Shared Lives Panel provide independent scrutiny for our Shared Lives support. People on the panel are part of the quality assurance process for new Shared Lives carers as well as the ongoing approval and de-approval of existing Shared Lives carers.

Working together with the Registered Manager and Shared Lives coordinators, our Panel make evidence-based decisions on carer applications. They review, assess and discuss assessments as part of the approval process.

Online review meetings can last up to half day and often require the panel to read assessment documentation before the meetings, to help with informed discussions.

How can I get involved?

We are currently looking for more people to join our Shared Lives Panel.

These are voluntary positions and are therefore unpaid. However, if any travel becomes necessary whilst carrying our panel duties, all associated travel expenses will be refunded.

What experience do I need?

We’re looking for people with experience in similar health and social care fields or an interest in health and social care governance. This can be lived experience as well as employed experience. You might be a student looking to put your knowledge into practice. The most important thing is that we have a panel with a range of different views and experiences to ensure that we are being inclusive and fair in our decision making. Crucially, you must believe and understand in Shared Lives Support.
