Kieron and Clare talked about going to Connect and Do Art Wednesdays
Certitude has been supporting me for over 10 years with various projects, but I’ve been coming to Connect and Do sessions for about a year now.
I live with my mum and sometimes my Nan when my mum goes away. I have a sister called Kelly who has children and a dog called Luna. I like coming here as no one moans at me!
My favourite thing is drawing. The workbooks really help me. I sit with Clare – we met in the art sessions. We are happy working together. I like using the Connect and Do workbooks. I draw from them each week. I also do the Choir on Mondays and Brit School drama sessions.
Some of the worksheets are hard and some are easy. At the art sessions I get to help a lot. I get the keys to the art cupboard and take out all the materials and set the tables up for everyone.
“I have my work hanging up in the Stockwell Park Community Centre. ” Kieron
I have been coming to the Connect and Do sessions for about four months. I live with carers, one of them is here with me. I see my mum who lives in a home. She has dementia which upsets me. I also visit my auntie. But coming here makes me feel happier, especially when I’m feeling upset.
My favourite thing is drawing and colouring. I also love tie dying t-shirts and making necklaces and bracelets and doing the music with Donato. The environment is very relaxing and I feel like I can try new things. Next, I want to learn how to sew. I also want to play the organ. I am going to start the choir this week too!
“When I go home, I think about Kieron. We laugh and cheer each other up when we feel down” Clare

The Old Vic
Kate Lawrence Lunniss, Community Manager at the Old Vic, talks about our work together to support creative expression.
We support the artists there to bring their ideas to life. Not everybody is a maker, so we help them cut and sew and make things which get sold in our shop.
I have written and recorded more than 150 songs while coming to The Gate and I love to perform.
The Brit School
We’ve been working with the community engagement team and Connect and Do for over ten years now and it’s grown into two community partnership events per year.
Kirstie listens to my stories and helps me write them down and my daughter is typing them up. I hope Certitude can help me publish my book.
Back in 2018 I’d been feeling unwell and was getting some support. Somebody recommended that I go to these creative community sessions called Connect and Do.
I’ve been drawing for a long time, as long as I can remember. I also love drinking tea, but drawing is special to me.
